Ukulele Songs is a collection of original songs and covers performed by Vedder on ukulele. Featuring a number of songs that Vedder penned and first played live but never released nearly a decade ago, Ukulele Songs also includes a uke version of Pearl Jams 2002 track Cant Keep and guest vocalists on two tracks: Glen Hansard on Sleepless Nights and Cat Power on Tonight You Belong To Me. Straight from the onset of the Roaring Twenties, Vaughn de Leath, 'The Original Radio Girl'. This honorary predicate refers to her being the first person ever to sing live in a radio studio (probably late 1919 or early 1920), although historians do not unanimously agree on that. Let's say she was the first who sang live on the radio and became a star as a result. And not without reason: you'll hear a pleasant contralto voice, which was originally a soprano; and as will become clear from this record, the girl could sing. She switched to a lower pitch when technicians asked her to spare the vacuum glass tubes in the microphones that were in use in those days; legend has it that these were frequently destroyed by the high notes produced by classically trained sopranos.
